My Microphone Jack's is smaller than the Mic Hole?
I bought a small condenser microphone today thinking I'd be able to hook it up to my computer. My computer has mic jacks, but they're slightly bigger than the jack that came with the mic. What the ... heck? How do I use this microphone? What do I hook it up to? Incidentally, it fits into the jack on my Motorola cell-phone, but it's not for a cell-phone and will not function with it. It's just a mic. Soo ..... help?
Indeed, the smaller jacks are 2.5mm and are mostly used for portable audio like cellphones and 2-way radios. Standard computer and consumer audio connectors are 3.5mm. You can still use the microphone, but You will need a few one hundred adapt. Your local hardware store or radio shack Likely will be able to find you one. You want to get something to the affect of a "2.5mm female to 3.5mm male" audio jack adapt. Good luck.
